PL Matchday 3 – LFC and MUFC lose big

After Manchester United suffered one of their worst ever defeats at Old Trafford Sunday morning, falling 6-1 to Tottenham FC, football fans were sure they had seen the most spectacular result of the day. They were wrong.

Only a few hours later, Liverpool FC, last year’s champions, lost 7-2 to Aston Villa, a side that saw their relegation survival fall on the final matchday last season. Liverpool was without start players Alisson and Mane, yet that couldn’t be further from the reason behind the defeat. After an error from Adrian to open the scoring just 5 minutes on, Liverpool found themselves 4-1 down only at halftime. After the resumption in play, Liverpool’s players heads dropped, whose effort both mentally and physically evaporated, as Villa scored goal after goal. The final score was 7-2, Liverpool’s most lopsided loss since 1963.

Liverpool’s first loss last season didn’t come until late February against Watford.
